Guard Passing with No Contact [Mini-Instructional]
Hey there, hope you had an excellent weekend!
In one of my past posts, I wrote about understanding connection from the guard position (top and bottom). If you missed it, you can check it out here.
In that video, I talked about how, if you’re in the top position, you need to remove contact in order to pass more effectively. If you’re in the bottom position, you need to maintain contact to attack more effectively.
Up to this point, most of the video content I’ve put out is conceptual. I haven’t put out anything technical until now.
My goal for today and ongoing, is to start adding technical instruction that will accompany many of the concepts I’ve been covering so that you can have a better idea of how to implement the “invisible” stuff into techniques.
Truth be told, I had been wanting to do technical videos but didn’t think they were on-brand (lesson notes). I changed my mind about it when I had some emails from subscribers asking if I would add some technical instruction so here we are!
In today’s email, you’re going to find a 15+ minute passing instructional based on the idea of connection.
Like I said in above, if you’re passing the guard, you’re going to be much more effective if you can manage to remove contact. Even better, you’re going to pass the guard MUCH more effectively if you can avoid contact altogether.
These 5 techniques will show you how I do just that —pass the guard without engaging with my opponent.
Are you ready to dive in?
