The Dynamics of Escaping Side Control
Hey everyone! Hope you’re crushing your training week!
This week, I want to piggyback off of last week’s email where I talked about the dynamics of mount escapes.
As I mentioned last week, as you get better at jiu-jitsu, you have to start thinking of positions dynamically. Few things in jiu-jitsu are static. And if you continue to use techniques statically, you’ll be setting yourself up for failure.
With that said, all of your defense and offense should be set up with the paradox that you’ll commit to the first attack/defense while also anticipating the next.
In today’s email we’re going to look at your side control defense from this dynamic perspective.
The defenses in this video are pretty common so I didn’t go into much detail with regard to the techniques themselves, but you’ll see how I use these really common defenses in sequence (when opponent defends).
Alright, let’s dive in!
