How to Humiliate a White Belt: NoGi edition
Me: “Dude, I have no idea what we’re narrating…”
Bryson: “What do you mean?”
Me: “Well, I had an idea but then the training kind of took a different direction… Not sure there’s a theme here…”
Bryson: “Well.. How about ‘How to humiliate a white belt’.”
Me: “Great call.”
Jokes aside, the reality is this video didn’t necessarily have a focus. I had some ideas when sparring but those ideas were more Gi oriented. Upon Bryson’s and a couple of other requests, we decided to make this a NoGi video.
It’s hard communicating to Bryson what our focus is. Inevitably he uses that information against me and thwarts all of my movements. So I have to keep these things a secret!
During the sparring I figured I’d use this narration to tie in some ideas from the previous substacks so that I can reference some of the concepts we’ve been talking about over the last 6 or so months.
So I decided to make this a video with no real direction in mind BUT it will reference quite a bit of old posts that only subscribers have access to. The goal is to see how some of these concepts with a Gi work with a NoGi setting.
I’ll attach the narration here first and then get into some of the concepts from previous emails.
