Grip "Strength" [Sparring Narration]
Hey there, hope you’re having an incredible week of training following the holiday!
If you tuned in last week, I talked about grips.
Grips are probably one of the most important yet underappreciated facets of training.
From grips, everything starts.
You cannot pass, sweep, submit, etc without establishing contact and grips, in most cases, are that contact.
When you’re on offense, your number one goal is to establish contact (control) so that you can move into the off-balancing and isolation of limbs. And when you’re on defense, though you don’t always have to remove that control, it helps immensely.
So it goes that if you’re going to train at a high level, your grips need to be STRONG.
Just kidding… They don’t actually need to be strong. They just need to feel strong.
