Diving Deep: The Knee Slice Pass
Hey there, hope you had an excellent weekend!
In today’s email, we’re going to dive deep into the knee slice pass.
The knee slice is a very common and highly effective pass. Once you get into the position, you should be able to have a very high success rate finishing your passes.
BUT, for a lot of beginners, there are a lot of points of failure.
Some of the biggest problems people have are
Not understanding the prerequisites/proper control for passing
Not knowing how to address the frame or knee shield
Not knowing how to address the underhook
Basic set ups are often taught which don’t work at the advanced level
In today’s email, I’m going to show you the most common/basic set-up for the knee slice pass with some little details that will make a huge difference.
Afterward, we’ll troubleshoot how to deal with frames and knee shields in order to execute the pass more effectively when you get some resistance.
Once we understand that, we’ll need to address the underhook.
The underhook is going to be incredibly problematic, especially against a bottom player who knows what they’re doing. Therefore, you need to make sure you are always on top of winning the underhook battle and if you lose it, how to circumvent that problem.
And lastly, there is a reason why most knee slice passes don’t work and it’s because the way it is taught is often too basic for advanced levels. I’m going to conclude this email on how to set up your knee slice from the Headquarters position so that you can cut right through your opponent’s guard.
