Back Retention + Maximum Mount Pain
Some tips on how to retain the back position and a few chokes + Bonus: Adding Maximum Pain to your Mount Position
Hey there, thanks for tuning in. I’ve got some great stuff for you today!
I recently had a lesson where a student was having issues attacking from the back position. I explained to him that once you have the back, you are in 100% submission rate territory.
If you’re not finishing from the back, then you’ve got a problem and that problem is usually understanding how to first control, then attack (I wrote about this idea of control/attack in my first paid newsletter. You can reread here).
In this video, I’m going to show you some of my tricks to controlling and retaining the mount position. Some of these retention ideas were taken from Danaher and others I picked up along the way.
So that it’s not too Danaher-esque, I’m also adding:
Collar choke I LOVE using when someone thinks they’re escaping the back and
Some transitions from turtle to counter your opponent’s defense that leads to the back
[I’m including this transition because I want you to see how this seatbelt control (Or choke control depending on your grips) can be replicated when someone escapes your back control]
Bonus: How to make people PAY in the mount position
One of my recent posts was on controlling and stabilizing the mount position. I teased a little bit that if it got XYZ engagement, I would write a bonus post on how to absolutely PUNISH people from the mount position.
…And here it is.
Included as a bonus are a few tricks I use to absolutely make people pay in the mount position. I reserve these “techniques” for my more “aggressive” students.
What you’ll find in the following paid email is approximately 15-20 minutes worth of video content on the unlisted YouTube channel. Watch and enjoy!
